Did everyone have a nice Valentine’s Day?

Filed under: General, Conversations - Susan M @ 2:55 pm

I don’t care about stuff like that. Daniel ran the kids to church activities last night, and when he got home he said, “I almost got you some flowers” and I said, “I’m glad you didn’t.” All I could think was it’d mean getting a vase out from timbuktoo and then having to clean it later, after the dead flowers dropped their petals everywhere, because I never throw things out when I should.

We’re not very romantic about holidays and anniversaries.

I was surprised at how many people at my work were into it, though. Dinner plans. Getting gifts for their SO’s. My company even handed out roses and candy to everyone. Maybe it’s a California thing.

  1. I think it’s a people thing. But, I’m not into it. I started a post yesterday (but, you know, two posts in one week? that’s a little excessive) about how I could care less about diamonds and roses. I know they represent love to a lot of people, but to me they just represent money. And money wasted on something not that awesome.

  3. We don’t do anything. I like it that way. No pressure! So we had a night of playing with the boy and Idol. So, a normal Wednesday…

  4. Ugh, sorry you’re sick, Mike!

Nice to know there’s other “bah humbug”-ers out there too.

  5. We went to Costco last night to do some shopping. I noticed that all the flowers had been sold! At Hallmark there were several men shopping for their loved ones. Almost all the cd”s were sold. Seems all the advertising has started a new holiday. Good for the merchants. It doesn’t mean very much to us either, Now birthday’s and Christmas that is another story. Love, MOM

  6. There were more mean people at work yesterday than any other day so far, including the day after thanksgiving! Guess all that love only goes so far…
And I’ve never been big on flowers, “Here’s a symbol of my undying love…which will be dead and gone in under two weeks. Oh, and they cost a bloody fortune” That’s just me though.
“Caught something from my son” eh? Sounds like someone hit the conversation hearts a little hard and is trying to cover it up….. ;)

  7. Heather and I are going to see the Kodo drummers at the Jones hall Tonight (Saturday) for Valentines, then to Carrabas. I had school Wednesday.
