We were watching the Grammys last night
And Joan Baez came on to introduce something. I said to Daniel, “I met her once. She said I looked like the burning bush.”
He asked when and I told him when I was 16, the same trip I met U2.
He said, “You are the weirdest girl I have ever known.”
I asked why and he said, “I can’t believe we’ve been married for 20 years and you just tell me, ‘oh yeah, I met Joan Baez, she called me the burning bush!’”
(She called me that because of my hair, which looked about like this at the time, only bigger. I think I may have been wearing that exact sweater.)

I was going to complain that I missed the Police performing on the Grammys last night. Then I remembered there was YouTube.
For some reason I wish they had performed something other than Roxanne.

I admit it, I didn’t watch. Though I did hit up the gossip blogs today to look at all the clothes…
But some people at work said the same thing about their performance. And mentioned that Sting just couldn’t hit the notes like he used to.
You used to look like that? Such the scenester you were…so hot

I really enjoyed seeing the Police together again, I don’t care what song they played.
I don’t think the word “scenester” existed when that photo was taken!

You met Joan Baez and she hassled you about your hair? It seems like an old hippie would see past all that…
We must be about the same age, I have a few photos like that one! Hair just wasn’t right until you had so much crap in it that you could cut glass.

Actually, this is probably closer to what I looked like when I met her:

So you can better understand the ribbing.
Kids have it so easy these days with fancy hair products and dyes. All we had was Aquanet, and egg whites!

Wow Susan. That is really an amazing picture. I can better understand why she would have that reaction, just because of the way your hair was standing up. Before, I didn’t quite get it.
