Fun with the word “doom.”
Or I should say, doooooooooooom!
Being a fan of doom metal, as well as having fans of the videogame called Doom in our household, we have a lot of fun with that word.
For instance, my husband took a break from cleaning the bathroom, and before he continued, he said, “Alright. Time to go back into the lair….of DOOOOOOOOM!”
Our youngest son likes to write stories. My favorite so far has been “The Candy Machine of Doom.” Or as we like to say, “The Candy Machine….of DOOOOOOOOM!”
Now you try it. Take any old phrase ending in a noun and tack on, “….of DOOOOOOOOM!” It works best if you use something truly grody, such as, “It’s time to take out the trash cans….of DOOOOOOOOM!” Or, conversely, something sweet and harmless. Like, “Susan sure has a cool blog….of DOOOOOOOOM!”
Heh. You made me laugh on this windy day of seeming Dooooooooom!

Beat you to the punch…I believe I used the word “DOOOOOOOOM” three times in a comment a few posts back. But it could just be my memory…of DOOOOOOOOOOM!

HA! Another freak who likes to talk like that! I knew we could be friends Susan!!! My husband says “blah blah blah OF DOOOOOM!” all the time- doesn’t matter what the topic is, he can turn it into an “of DOOOOM” moment- and now my kids are starting to do it!!!!

I finally figured out what this post reminded me of - have you seen the cartoon version of The Return of the King? There’s a song on it that goes “Frodo of the nine fingers . . . and the ring of doom! Why does he have nine fingers, where is the ring of Doom!” My siblings and I used to add that part “of the nine fingers, and the ring of DOOOOM!” after people’s names (singing it).
